Casual Magic✨

Casual magic is finding beauty in the mundane every day.
99% of our lives are spent in average moments,
waking up, eating the same breakfast, seeing the same people,
doing our normal routines, thinking about the same few things...

And there will always be those special days that we look forward to,
A birthday, wedding, traveling, and big life events. We crave these moments because we know how happy we'll be in them,  how joyous everything will feel!
So much so that the lead-up to them is almost more enjoyable than experiencing the times themselves!

But, why wait?
why only experience such bliss only 1% of the time?

When I was 16 and preparing for my Boards, every day felt the same.
I would wake up, go to school, come home, study and repeat.
Life felt so boring and stressful. It was around that time I had realized how
different my day was when I found little pieces of magic✨
Just small things to be grateful for, it gave me perspective on my life and made my stress feel more manageable.

I don't know exactly who coined the term 'Casual Magic'
But I remember seeing references to similar concepts
  in the years that followed.

Regardless, The Idea is,
Rather than waiting for the big things to happen, start enjoying life,
You can appreciate the beauty in the little things which
happen every single day!

Notice the way the light is coming into your room
and that it's worth looking at.
Take a second to appreciate your neighbor who smiled
at you on the street.
Appreciate someone holding the door for you when you're
carrying a lot of things.
It's taking a deep breath of the fresh air or even noticing the fact that you can walk and move and dance in whatever way you choose.

The concept of casual magic becomes all the more useful
when you're going through a stressful time, because,
it's like the silver lining of a dark cloud.
The point of gratitude can be as simple as being able to take the next breath when I felt anxious before and exam,
Knowing that my family is safe and healthy, or even
that I had a bed to sleep in.
The feeling of my head hitting the pillow was an accessible
thing to be grateful for.

It's nothing big, and that's the point!
Noticing and paying attention is what makes it important.

For me, answering to the age-old question, HOW CAN I BE HAPPY?
it shows me the beauty in the mundane and makes me pause to appreciate it.

It points not toward a goal or a route to success, but a way of making every part of the process have meaning.
It's a loving reminder that you don't need money or boundless time to appreciate something small every day.

Casual Magic puts you in the mindset, of paying more attention to the good and the bad so you can create a new narrative for yourself.

Is there something in your life right now you can be grateful for?
Did anything happen today that you didn't expect?
Can you look around the room and find something beautiful?

All we need is the intention to pay more attention to life

The more I practice the art of casual magic, the more I realize how profoundly it has shifted my daily perspective and
outlook on my life and our world

On the darker days, I make the effort to find the magic!
But on the lighter days, magic surrounds and consumes me,
and I radiate right back✨

Life is going to keep being mundane,
most days are going to be average,
By continuing to look for the casual magic,
I can promise that every day will have at least a sliver of beauty 💖
